Finally, after months of waiting, the courses are once again open for business. So, whether it's a leisurely stroll around a 9-hole course you're after, or an 18-hole links golf challenge, it's time to polish those balls and whip out Big Bertha.

Getting down in 4 from under 60 yards. This can be a combination of things, but normally it's missing the green with your first short shot and not hitting your second short shot close enough to get down in one putt. Just hit the ball on the green. It's a big target. Don't get fancy about where the pin is. Get the ball on the green so you can start putting.

When you stop your body in the middle or mid-way of the shot, you lose the power imparted to the ball and when you lose your power, you lose your distance. Your shot should be finished with the left hand, led by the right hand, this will allow your dominant hand to impart the power to your ball and allow it to travel further.

Taking three shots from less than 40 feet. This includes putts from 40 feet and chips from 40 feet. Recreational golfers have a lot of short shots like this. Taking three strokes is giving away one.

Now, how can a sport be actually helpful for the adults and the elderly? Now what type of sport could I recommend basing on the physical and emotional needs and the adult or the elderly's developmental stages making them productive and enjoy a sport at the same time? GOLF is the answer. Why golf? As we all know, golf is a ball game where one actually enjoys emotional and social benefits.

You certainly do not want to chip yourself into another chip shot, which is what can happen if you try to force a ball to get down too quickly. When you are short of the green and trying to land just onto the putting surface, you risk hitting the fringe (or worse), where it is much harder to predict how the ball is going to react.

For shorter shots the swing will either be a half or three quarters swing while a drive will be a full swing. You have to be as slow and relaxed as possible and learn the correct movement that suits your body. Once you have completed the swing, the follow through is also very important, as the strain on your back and shoulders is immense when swinging.
